The L-plate shows Moominmamma weaving a sock. In the backstory, Moominpappa and Moominmamma, eager for change, move into a cave but agree to return when the children find them. The illustration on the back of the plate, which is part of the Alphabet collection, is inspired by the Moomin family cartoon.
In this O-alphabet, Moomintroll peeks out from inside the letter O. The illustrations are inspired by the comic strip "Moomintroll and the Comet," in which a comet approaches Moominvalley and threatens to destroy the world. Strange things begin to happen, and the inhabitants decide to find out what is going on.
The V-plate features a pan-headed Fuddler. The illustrations are based on the comic strip Fuddler's Courtship, in which Fuddler, in love with Mymble, is unrequited because she has set his sights on the eccentric psychiatrist Dr Hatter.
The main character on the E-plate is Mymble, who has starry eyes. In the story behind the plate, the Moomins skip their winter sleep and meet Mr Brisk, who is crazy about sports. Mr Brisk does not appeal to Moomintroll, but Mymble immediately falls in love with this powerful athlete. The illustration on the reverse side is inspired by the comic strip "Moomin's Winter Follies."
