In the F-mug, the Lady of the Cold has brought her freezing frost to Moominvalley. Winter-loving Hemulen tries to lure everyone outside to go skiing, but Too-ticky urges the valley's littlest inhabitants in particular to stay indoors. The illustration is based on the book "Moominland Midwinter".
The illustration on the letter mug "R" features Fillyjonk worrying about how the Moomins can live in such a messy house. The illustrations of the letter mugs are based on Jansson’s Moomin comics “Moominmamma’s Maid” (1956), “Moomin and the Brigands” (1954–55) and “Conscientious Moomin” (1958), and the book “Moominsummer Madness” (1954).
Dr Hatter, a psychiatrist who is hinting in the I-mug, has got the Moominvalley crowd in stitches. The Constable suspects he is being spied on. Fillyjonk walks around with an umbrella even though the sun is shining. In her characteristic way, Moominmamma puts things back in order. The illustration is based on the comic strip "Fuddler's Courtship".
The main character on the E-mug is Mymble, who has starry eyes. In the story behind the mug, the Moomins skip their winter sleep and meet Mr Brisk, who is crazy about sports. Mr Brisk does not appeal to Moomintroll, but Mymble immediately falls in love with this powerful athlete. The illustration on the reverse side is inspired by the comic strip "Moomin's Winter Follies."
The illustration on the letter mug "N" features The Groke, who has frightened Sniff, Moomintroll and Shadow.
