Ninni is the invisible child in the Moomin stories. Ninni became invisible because her aunt mistreated her. The only thing visible is the silver brooch hanging around her neck. When the Moomin family takes Ninni under their wing, their understanding care gives her the courage to return, and she becomes visible again. Ninny is a character from the short story “The Invisible Child”, part of the collection Tales from Moominvalley by Tove Jansson, first published in 1962. The character series includes a mug, a bowl and a plate.
